Prologue 序言
我的生活圈是在台北市與新北市. 很少坐高鐵或台鐵到其他縣市. 所以到生活圈之外 , 找尋餐廳都是以交通方便為主. 台中與高雄都是先從捷運美食做搜尋. 這次找到小初店也是因為靠近台中水安宮捷運站, 而且還是台中必比登餐廳.
My daily life mainly revolves around Taipei City and New Taipei City. I rarely take the HSR or TRA to other cities. Therefore, when I look for restaurants outside my usual area, convenience of transportation is my top priority. For cities like Taichung and Kaohsiung, I usually start by searching for restaurants near MRT stations. I discovered Xiao Chu Den this time because it’s close to Shui-an Temple MRT Station. It is also a Taichung Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant

Xiao Chu Den: located near Taichung MRT Station
小初店地址是台中市南屯區大業路243號. 離台中水安宮捷運站只需要5 ~ 10 分鐘走路時間.
The restaurant is located at No. 243, Daye Road, Nantun District, Taichung City. It is about a 5–10 minute walk from Taichung Shui-an Temple MRT Station.

小初店週末不營業, 而且平日只營業到 8pm. 平日午餐與晚餐用餐時間都需要排隊登記. 我個人會建議下午時段再去用餐, 也許等候時間會短一些.

The restaurant is closed on weekends and only operates until 8 PM on weekdays. Both lunch and dinner hours typically require putting your name down and waiting for a table. I personally recommend visiting during the afternoon to avoid long wait times.

Xiao Chu Den: The dining environment after renovation
小初店重新裝潢後有一種日式定食餐廳風格. 也類似乾淨明亮的文青風格. 櫃檯後是廚房, 從窗戶即可看到店員製作的過程. 不得不說, 以台式餐廳來說, 廚房非常乾淨.
After renovation, the space has a Japanese set-meal restaurant vibe, combined with a clean and minimalist aesthetic. The kitchen is located behind the counter. You can watch the staff cooking through the window. Notably, for a Taiwanese-style eatery, the kitchen is impressively clean.

我是一人用餐, 點的是滷肉飯 + 排骨 + 三盤小菜的套餐
I dined alone and ordered a set that included braised pork rice + pork chop + three side dishes.

店家並未淋上大量滷肉與肉汁,份量反而比預期地少.絲毫依舊不減美味程度. 豬五花肉油脂豐富, 鹹香到位. 膠質滿滿卻不顯黏膩. 搭配香腸,蛋與白飯一同分享. 份量已足夠七分飽.
The restaurant doesn’t pour an excessive amount of braised pork or sauce over the rice. The amount is less than expected, But it doesn’t compromise the flavor. The pork belly is rich in fat with a savory profile. The gelatinous texture is abundant without being overly sticky. Paired with sausage, egg, and rice, the portion is satisfying, which is about 70% full.

並沒有預期地美味, 反而滷肉飯比炸排骨好吃.
Not as impressive as expected. The braised pork rice is clearly the better dish.
