Most Taiwanese aren’t familiar with the Shopify Starter Plan pricing or how to set up payment options. This article shares my personal experience setting up a Shopify store, which includes the pros and cons I encountered along the way.

我當初決定試試看的原因就是 Shopify Starter Plan 價格便宜. 前三個月是 USD $1/月. 之後的價格是 USD $5 / 月. 也許因為價格太便宜 , Shopify 並沒有刻意做宣傳.
The reason I decided to give Shopify a try was because the Shopify Starter Plan was cheap. For the first three months, it only cost USD $1 per month, and after that, the price increased to USD $5 per month. Perhaps because the plan is so cheap, it almost feels like a hidden option.

適合 Freelancer
Shopify Starter Plan is suitable for Freelancer
Shopify Starter Plan 與有專業電商不太ㄧ樣. 雖然 Shopify Starter Plan 可以設定自己的商店連結 , 但是網域要有 myshopify.com (Example: https://tina-brandmarketing.myshopify.com/ ). 此款網域連結最適合 Freelancer 與 自媒體者, 可放在 Instagram Profile 連結或是其他平台.
The Shopify Starter Plan operates differently from a full professional e-commerce setup. While you can customize your store link, the domain will still include “myshopify.com” (For example: https://tina-brandmarketing.myshopify.com/ ). This type of domain is ideal for freelancers and content creators, as it’s simple to share. You can easily place it in your Instagram bio, or link it from other social media and personal platforms.

台灣無法設定 Shopify Payment
You can not set up Shopify Payment at Taiwan
全部 Shopify 商店都可以設定 Paypal 是其中一款付費方式. 但是在台灣地區, 卻無法設定 Shopify Payment 付費方式 (Shopify 內建付費方式）. 對於不太信任網路刷卡的人, Shopify Payment 付費方式比較能被人信任. 如果在台灣地區 , 可以連結 EC PAY 綠界. 麻煩的是在台灣設定 EC PAY 綠界, 審核比以前困難. 這也是我放棄 Shopify Starter Plan 的主要原因.
All Shopify stores can set up PayPal as one of their payment options.
However, in Taiwan, it’s not possible to activate Shopify Payments, which is Shopify’s own built-in payment processor. For customers who are hesitant to use online credit card payments, Shopify Payments is generally viewed as more trustworthy. Since this option isn’t available in Taiwan, many local merchants instead connect to ECPay. The challenge, however, is that ECPay’s application and approval process has become stricter in recent years. This added difficulty was one of the main reasons I decided to give up on using the Shopify Starter Plan.

Youtube 有很多 Shopify Starter Plan 的影片, 但是大部分都是以敘述為主. 很少有實際操作經驗. 網路上很少找得到 Shopify Starter Plan 的文章 , 也沒有模板可以直接套用. 我花費更多時間去 set up Shopify 商店, 很沒有效率.
There are many YouTube videos about the Shopify Starter Plan, but most are explanatory overviews rather than actual step-by-step demonstrations. iIt is hard to find detailed written guides or ready-to-use templates for the Starter Plan. Because of that, I ended up spending a lot more time setting up my Shopify store than expected. The overall process felt inefficient and time-consuming.
