1. New Menu- Drink
Chick-fil-A is pouring new Mango Passion Tea Lemonade. Dunkin’ is debuting Dunkin’ Refreshers iced beverages, made with iced green tea, flavored fruit concentrate and B vitamins. The drinks come in strawberry dragonfruit and peach passionfruit flavors. Both beverages contain fewer than 200 calories. A new seasonal summer menu has arrived at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, including two new tea-based beverages. The Hibiscus Mint Cold Brew Tea is made with Scottish breakfast cold-brew tea and hibiscus mint syrup, while the Lemonade Cold Brew Tea blends Scottish breakfast cold brew tea and lemonade syrup.
2. Starbucks serving Impossible Breakfast Sandwiches
Starbucks impossible breakfast sandwich features a plant-based impossible sausage patty, a cage-free fried egg and aged cheddar cheese served on ciabatta bread.
Starbucks’ cold foam platform is expanding to include two new non-dairy cold foam beverages that contain 50 calories or fewer for a grande size. Available on the permanent menu nationwide, the Cold Brew with Cinnamon Almondmilk Foam features Starbucks cold-brew coffee topped with cinnamon, vanilla and almond milk cold foam, while the Cold Brew with Dark Cocoa Almondmilk Foam starts with cold brew topped with mocha sauce, cocoa powder and almond milk cold foam.
3. Eight in Ten consumers changed their eating habits due to Covid-19
The biggest change was that 60% of consumers reported cooking at home more. One-in-three said they are snacking more, and a quarter said they are thinking about food more than usual. Around 20% reported eating healthier than usual, eating more than usual and eating more pre-made meals from their pantry or freezer.
More than 40% of consumers under the age of 35 reported snacking more than normal, compared to 26% of consumers over the age of 50. Younger consumers also were more likely to report eating both more and less healthy foods during the pandemic.
